Students at Ysgol John Bright are celebrating today having achieved phenomenal results for their outstanding sixth form. With a near-perfect pass rate, this year saw close to 40% of all grades awarded at A* or A, 58% at A*-B and over 80% of grades awarded at A*-C.
“Ysgol John Bright is a community to thrive in,” commented Hywel Parry, Headteacher. “Every single grade achieved here is a result of students’ dedication to their studies and excellent teaching from our hard-working staff. We wish this remarkable cohort of students all the very best for the future”.
With 23 students achieving at least three A*/A grades, the notable successes are many are varied including Ariadna who achieved 3A* and will now go on to study Optometry at The University of Manchester. Twins Matty and Libby achieved a remarkable 5A*, 2A and 1B between them, now go their separate ways with Matty off to Durham University to study Mathematics and Libby going to Loughborough University to study Sport and Exercise Science after a gap year. Julia will now study Architectural Studies at Cardiff University after achieving 3A*. We anticipate that around 40% of our students will be going to Russell Group Universities this year with the vast majority going to their university of first choice.
Chris Davies, Head of Sixth Form, commented “Every set of results today tells only part of the story of students’ journeys through their final stage of secondary education. Many students will have overcome personal adversity during their time in the Sixth Form; we applaud them for their resilience and thank all those family members, friends and professionals who have supported and helped them realise their potential.
