Mr Davies presents the Gold CREST Award to Ashley

In April this year, three Product Design students from Ysgol John Bright won the ‘Best Innovative Solution of a Product’ award at the Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW) presentation ceremony at Venue Cymru.

Ashley Bellis, Thomas Edwards and James Townsend worked alongside the company director, Mr Will Lee, EESW director Mr Graham Nutt, their teacher Mr Dylan Williams, and the Technology Faculty technician, Mr John McMillan over a period of six months to develop and manufacture an attachment to assist in holding a wheel when re-treading a tyre.

The students were awarded with a cash prize for their efforts as well as high praise from both Mr Lee and Mr Nutt.
This week, the high praise continued when the students all received a Gold CREST Award from EESW director Mr John Hughes, for their participation in the project.

Mr Hughes commended the students for their efforts, and expressed how high an accolade this was for them.
