Year 8 Rugby Team Victorious in 2011 Eryri CupYear 8 Rugby Team Victorious in 2011 Eryri Cup

YJB’s Year 8 rugby team this year have won the Eryri cup.  It was won by last year’s Year 8 so we had to live up to expectations.

Our first game was against St David’s College which we won 42 – 0.

Our second game was against Creuddyn which was won 54 – 0.

Our next game was against Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy.  This game was not so easy as they were a good team and we didn’t play to our best.  We narrowly won 12 – 7 with a late try from Nathan Thomason winning the game, the other try came from Sam Hughes and the conversion came from Ryan Griffiths.

Next we played Porthmadog which was also not easy.  After a bad start we came back to win 37 – 0.  Tries came from Sam Hughes, Sam Williams and Isaac Williams.

Our final match was against Pwllheli.  This was our best game so far and we beat them 57 – 7.  On that day everyone have their all and it was a fast and well structured game.  We dominated in the forwards, our backs were decisive and matched up to the other team, and Pwllheli’s star player, their big strong and quick fly/ half/centre, was outplayed by our amazing centre, Isaac Williams.

We deserved the win, deserved the cup, which was awarded to our captain, Sam Williams, and deserved the McDonalds on the way home!
