After winning the North West Wales title, year 7 were drawn to play against Ysgol Sir Thomas Picton from Haverfordwest in the last 16 of the Welsh Schools Cup.

Not a lot was known of our opponents so it was a case of taking the game to them and starting positively.

That was exactly what happened when on ten minutes Adam Hold was fouled 25 yards out and from the resulting free kick Hold scored with a curling shot in to the corner, 1-0 YJB!

This seemed to rally the home side and soon after Jamie Grimshaw went close with a shot from the edge of the area.

The conditions were suiting the passing play of the home side and a neat interchange between Sean McCaffery and Adam Hold saw Jamie Grimshaw in one on one with the goalkeeper, just wide again, another chance goes begging.

The STP centre forward sprung the offside trap and although his effort hit the post the rebound was expertly curled in to the corner to make the score 1-1.

It was a case of steadying the ship at half time and the players maintained their focus and looked determined as the second half commenced.

Elliott Shields was starting look dangerous down the right side and the defensive backline of goalkeeper Tariq Smith, Aiden McBride, Jake Jarvis, captain Toby Roberts and Josh Grimshaw looked solid.

The game was there for the taking when on 50 minutes Sean McCaffery played a slide rule pass in to the path of Daniel Carceiro and he finished with aplomb past the on rushing keeper, 2-1 YJB!
