Year 9 Mission Statement

Welcome to Year 9 which is the start of a very important KS4 journey as our students begin their GCSE courses. We want our students to be positive and confident learners who enjoy their learning experiences. Students should embrace new opportunities and challenges, both inside the classroom and extracurricular. As their Director of Learning, I want to ensure that students feel supported at all levels which will be achieved through our partnerships with parents and families.

Assessment Targets

Each student will be set individual assessment targets based on the KS2 information we have for them. These will be reviewed at each assessment point.

Assessment and reporting

There will be 2  assessment points during the year therefore each student will be issued with 2 reports: 1 interim report which will include a breakdown of their progress and 1 full report. The dates that these reports will be issued are as follows:

  • January 28th - AP1 Interim report issued
  • July 8th - AP2 Full report issued

We encourage all students to aspire to a minimum attendance of 95%. This means that we would request that medical appointments are arranged out of school hours. However, in the event that your child is unable to attend school, we ask that you contact the attendance officer in the morning giving a reason for absence.
