A level

The A level results of 2014 take into consideration the impact of the distinctive and ground-breaking Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification.

• 100% pass rate for the WBQ
• 99.38% pass rate for all A levels above Wales and Conwy average
• 90% of grades achieved were A*-C above Wales and Conwy average – best ever
• 69% of grades achieved were A*-B above Wales and Conwy average – best ever
• 52% of grades achieved were A*/A above Wales and Conwy average –best ever

These results represent the most successful year for year 13 students at Ysgol John Bright. Once again we have been delighted with the exceptional results from the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification in which 82 students achieved an A grade equivalent.

GCSE

I am also delighted that the 2014 cohort a have matched the recording breaking results of last year. The Headline statements are as follows;

• 87% of students gained 5+ A*-C, and is the best ever!
• 63% of students achieved 5+ A* – C, including English and Mathematics
• 97% of students gained at least 5*A-G passes at GCSE
• 73% of students achieved A*-C grade in English – equal best ever
• 70% of students achieved A*-C grade in Maths
• 94% of students achieved A*-C grade in science – best ever
• All these figures are also above the Wales and Conwy Averages

Whilst we are reluctant to single out students it is worth noting that there were, as ever, some exceptional individual performances by students in year 11;
