Students at Ysgol John Bright have been celebrating another year of fantastic A level examination results. This year the school has broken previous records and the students and staff are thrilled by these results. The results of 2016 show further improvement and previous record results have been topped by this year’s cohort of A level students.
The headline figures for the A2 results are that A-C passes are a record 90%, this figure is a truly outstanding performance. 40% of grades were A*/A passes, 64% were A-B passes and the overall pass rate was 99.6%. All these results represent continued improvement and are amongst the most successful for A Level students at Ysgol John Bright.
Head Teacher Mr Matt Vickery said “I am very proud of our sixth form students and want to congratulate all of them on this year’s excellent achievements. This is a reflection of the hard work put in, not just in the 6th form, but over their whole life at Ysgol John Bright. The results confirm the continuing success of the school, where overall academic standards at Post 16 continue to improve.
These results are further testimony to the incredible hard work and dedication of the staff and students at the school as well as the support from families. Everyone has worked tirelessly to achieve such success and are to be congratulated. I am delighted for the students and know they thoroughly deserve these excellent results ”
All the students have worked hard and achieved success but there are some notable individuals worthy of mention. George Griffiths achieved two A*s and two A grades and will be going on to Natural Sciences at Bath University. Caitlin Williams also achieved two A* grades and two A grades and is going to Birmingham University to study Psychology, Mark Dingley achieved two A* grades and A grade and two B grades and is going to Warwick University to study Physics. Joseph Newton achieved three A* grades and a C grade and will be going on to study Sport Science at Swansea University. Nathan Thomason, Gareth Caulfield and Jarred Wooley achieved two A* grades, an A grade and a B grade and Emma Treleaven-Jones achieved an A* grade and an A grade and is going to Liverpool University to study Business Management.
