To coincide with World Book Day, Ysgol John Bright and Llandudno Public Library have teamed up to launch an exciting new partnership called ‘YJB Page Turners’. The aim of this new initiative is to help to improve literacy levels and promote reading amongst our students. We also want to support the town library and the library service across Wales.
The partnership will help ensure that all Year 7 students at Ysgol John Bright are enrolled with the public library and on their first visit they will be introduced to the services and facilities as part of a Communication Studies topic.
Students will be encouraged to use both the school library and Llandudno library as part of their Bronze, Silver and Gold Olympic Reading/Numeracy Awards and will be issued with a reward card.
World Book Day will see the first class visits to the Llandudno Library, where students will be collecting their library membership cards, having a tour of the Llandudno library and will experience a story- telling session with the visiting author, Shonaleigh.
All involved are extremely excited about this new partnership, and look forward to the start of many new projects with the school and town library, working collaboratively to help improve students’ literacy and to appreciate the joys of reading.
