Students with wreaths to be layed at the Menin Gate in Yprès, Belgium

Today the Mayor of Llandudno, Cllr Ann Yates, Cllr Brian Bertola and Mr Baker, President of the Llandudno Royal British Legion visited Ysgol John Bright to present students at the school with wreaths of poppies and wooden crosses.

The students will lay the wreaths as part of the memorial service at the Menin Gate in Yprès in Belgium.

The visit to Belgium has been organised by the school’s History Department and will take place from 18th to 20th February this year. It will include visits to major battlefields around Ypres in Belgium and the Somme in France. The visit promises to be a memorable and thought provoking experience for all involved.
